Home prices are up on Maui from last month but remain down from this time last year. March did see an upswing in sales in Maui County.

A total of 52 single-family homes were sold in March, including 51 on Maui and 1 on Molokai. This is a sixty percent increase from February’s 31 sales, but it is down 45% from March of 2008. In that month, 95 houses were sold, according to data provided by the Realtors Association of Maui.

The median price  of a single family home was $620,000 in March of 2008, but dropped in March of this year to $504,500. This is a decrease of 19%. Year-to-date sales are down by half. In condos, the median price dropped 39% from $538,500 to $331,000. Condos saw almost half as many sales this year as last.
