Maui’s motto is “Maui no ka oi,” which means Maui is the best. We certainly think so, but it is always nice when our beautiful island gains national or international recognition for outstanding qualities, which it frequently does. Sometimes a distinction is earned by an establishment on Maui, such as hotels, spas, restaurants, etc. As it happens, a Maui restaurant did indeed earn a distinction recently.
When OpenTable Inc. released its list of the 100 best restaurants in the United States, we were excited to hear that two Hawaii restaurants made the list. One was La Mer at the Halekulani hotel on Oahu, and the other was Mama’s Fish House in Paia. This was wonderful to hear, and it wasn’t much of a surprise that Mama’s was chosen. The relaxed tropical atmosphere, the exquisite cuisine, and the artful beverage creations are all just wonderful to experience.
Restaurants were selected by OpenTable diners over the past year. The top 100 were chosen out of 12,000 restaurants across the country. They were located in 34 states and Washington D.C. If you’d like to see the complete list, visit opentable.com.
Mama’s Fish House earned a 4.7 rating out of 5. They have also earned a 96% rating based on user reviews from Zagat. Given all this positive feedback, if you’ve got friends or family in town and you are looking for a nice place to take them, you should definitely consider Mama’s, especially if you haven’t been there yourself.
