Based on a recent report from RealtyTrac, Hawaii earned over half the spots on their list of the 20 best beach town housing markets. This evaluation was based on home values, weather, air quality and crime rates. Not surprisingly, four of the eleven Hawaii towns on the list were located on Maui.
As West Maui real estate specialists, we’re proud to say that Lahaina was among them. The others were Kihei, Wailuku and Kahului. The remaining seven towns on the other islands were Waianae, Ewa Beach, Waipahu, Honolulu, Pearl City, Kaneohe and Kailua.
RealtyTrac is a real estate data tracking service, and they routinely provide useful information for those who like to be informed on real estate markets both locally and nationwide.
Because the criteria for this particular list emphasizes affordability, the towns listed don’t tend to include much in the way of luxury real estate. In fact, the list is organized based on median home prices, with the least expensive markets at the top and the most expensive at the bottom. Of the Maui markets listed, the order was: Wailuku, Kahului, Kihei and Lahaina. Wailuku ranked in at No. 4 on the overall list.
