Known as one of the top destinations in West Maui, The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach was built in the late 1970’s. Over the years, the Association has continued to keep the property updated to draw many visitors and families to the resort and to uphold the Aston standards. The Whaler is continually improving the property. The fitness center underwent an extensive remodel, Valet services are now provided, and the Association has just begun to remodel the BBQ area.

The fitness center had a floor-to-ceiling remodel completed this past Fall. The center now has premier equipment by Matrix and offers treadmills, free weights, upright bikes, and a cable machine. The floors have been updated with cushioned rubber flooring. A refreshment bar is also available. The fitness center is located in the basement of Tower I.

The parking options at The Whaler have been minimal in recent years. The Association recognized the issue and has been actively working to resolve it. A new paved parking lot was completed over the Summer. It is located on the site of one of the tennis courts. It alleviates much of the parking concern. To further mitigate the parking issue, the Whaler has introduced a Valet service at the porte cochere. The Valet is available at high traffic times, from 9pm to 1am and 7am to 11am daily.

The BBQ area in Tower II is currently being renovated. The project began in early January and will continue, in different phases, through April. Demolition is ongoing and will include cutting stone, granite, and tile in the area. While the space is being updated, the BBQs were relocated to be closer to the pool area and to the makai (ocean side) entrance to Tower II. Renovation work will continue through the end of January. The new paver path and patio is scheduled to be installed in February and finishing work will extend through April, allowing for a hiatus in construction during the month of March.

With the ongoing upgrades to the property, the Whaler will continue to be an icon on Kaanapali Beach.
