It’s almost here everyone, the moment we’ve all been waiting for! The 2019 Maui Film Festival is back in action this year and is slated to kick off on June 12th. For almost two decades, this well-known and established event on Maui has put the Valley Isle on the map for Hollywood movie stars and every year keeps getting better and better.
Our luxury real estate experts love to attend this popular celebration on Maui and here’s why. The annual Maui Film Festival started in 2000 by Barry Rivers. Since then, the event planners and volunteers involved have helped share compassionate and transformative stories from all over the globe to locals and visitors alike on Maui. Over the years, there have been more than 750 narrative and documentary feature-length films alongside short films shown and no matter what you can guarantee a new and exciting experience each time.
Aside from catching a glimpse of some incredible films, you also get a chance to see some of the world’s most beloved stars. In the past, actors and actresses such as Woody Harrelson, Lupita Nyong’o, Freida Pinto and so many more have flocked to the island to participate in this special multi-day event as honorees. Part of the Maui Film Festival program is to honor talented movie stars such as the ones mentioned for their work in this industry. And, if you attend, you might even see one of your favorite stars in the flesh.
Combined with food, culture, drinks and the beauty of Maui, attending one or more of the Maui Film Festival events offers potential guests such as yourself an opportunity to be a part of a moment on Maui that will give memories and aloha to everyone involved. Movies that weekend will be played in Wailea at the Celestial Cinema located on the Wailea Gold and Emerald Golf Courses, and in Kahului at the acclaimed Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
It’s moments like these that make us proud to represent the Maui community and is just another reason why being a homeowner here is indeed something special.
