It’s another beautiful week on Maui. The sun is shining, the surf is up, and the warm tropical air smells of fragrant tropical flowers. Just another day in paradise for us and yet another reminder of what makes Maui such a great place to call home. Speaking of homes, make sure to look at our new Maui MLS listings and contact us if you see any that catch your eye. We have a wide selection of Hawaii luxury homes and hope you spend some time looking through our options so you can enjoy the island life with us!
This year on Maui there’s plenty of fun events to participate in and enjoy. One such event just so happens to be for a good cause. The Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center in collaboration with the East Maui Watershed Partnership (EMWP) is the Mālama Wao Akua, Caring for the Realm of the Gods, a juried art exhibition celebrating the native species of Maui Nui (the areas of Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Kahoolawe). Maui artists are invited to explore the watersheds and use their creative talents to raise awareness about the importance of native species.
Those who plan on entering should keep in mind that the artwork should reflect a general knowledge and understanding of the watersheds and native species on the island. Artwork will also be selected based on a number of different criteria, including originality of concept, creativity, technique, professionalism and presentation. Artists of all ages are invited to submit work and a juried team with backgrounds in both conservation and art will select what works will be on display. Works in all media are welcome.
What a wonderful event to attend this year and a great way to get in touch with the natural beauty that makes Maui such a wonderful place to live and call home. If you know of any artists or are an artist yourself, we encourage you to participate in this family-friendly community event. It’s a great way to showcase your passion for the island and show the world how Maui inspires your inner artist.
We hope you enjoyed learning about the Malama Wao Akua art exhibit and consider attending and/or submitting a piece of art this year. Keep checking our blog each week as we like to announce various fun events on Maui from time to time.
